Great service requires a safe place to grow. For Japanese organizations evolving from traditional support to AI-driven service, technology stack security is a baseline requirement.

We’ve achieved a major milestone in this journey: Zendesk is now officially included on the Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP) Cloud Service List.

This authorization validates our commitment to the highest levels of operational security. By successfully completing this intensive evaluation, we are providing verified compliance to Japanese public-sector agencies and highly regulated businesses looking to modernize their service.

What the ISMAP registration covers

ISMAP is the Japanese government’s security framework for public cloud providers. Much like FedRAMP in the United States, it provides the rigorous standards public sector customers need to adopt cloud technology with total peace of mind.

To achieve registration, a cloud service provider must pass an exhaustive audit conducted by a government-approved third party. With nearly 1,200 individual control requirements, ISMAP provides rigorous validation that international frameworks like ISO and NIST are correctly implemented.

The key areas covered by ISMAP include:

  • Governance and risk management

  • Incident response

  • Data encryption

  • Access control

  • Logging and monitoring

  • Continuous improvement

By partnering with an ISMAP-certified provider like Zendesk, Japanese public-sector agencies can streamline their cloud adoption, by eliminating the need of conducting their own independent security assessments.

The full Zendesk platform

Authorized products and features

Our customers can now deploy the full breadth of the Zendesk platform within Japan’s strict regulatory framework. Whether they are automating citizen services or streamlining business processes, they can lean on our tools knowing they meet the highest safety benchmarks.

The initial scope of Zendesk products under ISMAP covers the Zendesk Suite and Zendesk Suite Add-ons – additional options available for purchase on the Zendesk platform.*

Our ongoing commitment to the Japanese market

Security should not be a hurdle to innovation. By adding ISMAP to our global compliance portfolio, we are making it easier for Japan’s public institutions to adopt modern, AI-powered support tools. Zendesk remains committed to the Japanese market and we will continue to expand our ISMAP scope to include new features through our ongoing annual assessments.

For our customers in Japan, this achievement means you can stay focused on what matters most: building meaningful connections and delivering great service. We’ll handle authorized tools that keep customer data protected and their business in sync.
